Steeped in history, with medieval beams, a roaring fire in cooler months, and a magical atmosphere year-round, our 15th century Hall offers a romantic and unforgettable venue for your wedding celebrations.
Set in the heart of York against the city's ancient walls, the Hall offers a choice of spaces to accommodate 40 – 120 guests. All are flexible so you can lay them out as you’d prefer, and dress them with flowers and decorations to make your special day as unique as you are. Some typical room layouts are shown in the photographs on this website and in our wedding brochure, but we’re always happy to change things up to meet your needs wherever possible. If you’d like a helping hand with your ideas, we can put you in touch with some amazing stylists and suppliers too!
There's a lovely garden available for photographs, your drinks reception or just for you and your guests to enjoy, and the option of ceremony and reception, or reception-only celebrations.
Our dedicated staff will work with you throughout the planning stages to make sure everything is just as you’d like it, and be with you on the day itself to ensure everything goes smoothly, while our experienced caterers will create a buffet, set meal or banquet menu of delicious food and drink to enhance your special day. There’s a fully licensed bar offering real ales, pump beers, spirits and wines too!
We’re an accessible venue for wheelchair users and can offer free on-site parking (up to 10 spaces) for any guests with disabilities and the bridal party (there’s a car park with hundreds more spaces only 400 yards away). York train station is just a 15 minute walk, or short taxi journey, away for your guests travelling from further afield.
As a registered charity all income we generate from weddings is reinvested in the maintenance of this magnificent Grade 1 listed building, or given in grants to projects involving young people who want to develop their skills in the fields of art, craftsmanship and music.
