Open Day: Yorkshire Day

  • Merchant Taylors' Hall Aldwark York YO1 7BX (map)

Built in 1415, the York Merchant Taylors' Hall is one of the most significant medieval buildings in this architecturally rich city and has been a place to congregate, feast, make music and make merry for more than 600 years.

Our Open Days provide a wonderful opportunity for both residents and visitors to explore the Hall, find out more about our medieval guild and enjoy a musical, Company or seasonally themed performance, activity or display.

Today, on Yorkshire’s very special day, Company Members will be on hand to lead informal tours around the building and tell visitors about the remarkable history of the Taylors of York.

There’ll also be an exhibition by the York and District Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. These talented craftspeople promote weaving, spinning and dyeing throughout our region, but also have interests in knitting, embroidery, silk painting, papermaking, crocheting, braiding, felt-making, lace-making, textile painting, basketry… the list is endless!

Refreshments available. Entry is FREE and all are welcome.
